Here are some simple questions that you can ask yourself about your baby. This will help you determine if your baby is at risk and if intervention is appropriate.
Does my baby always seem to be looking or sleeping with his head in the same direction?
Does he resist turning his head the other way?
Is it difficult for my baby to stay repositioned?
Does my baby dislike tummy time?
Does my baby spend, combined, more than 3 hours a day, on an incline surface (car seat, swing, bouncy seat)?
Does my baby’s head seem to be flat in the back or flatter on one side?If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, your baby may be at risk for plagiocephaly (flat head). Speak to your pediatrician and/or call Baby Begin for a consultation/evaluation. The sooner problems with positioning and neck tightness are identified, the easier it is to correct them.
